For I am the first and the last. I am the honored one and the scorned one. I am the whore and the holy one. I am the wife and the virgin. I am [the mother] and the daughter. I am the members of my mother. I am the barren one, And many are her sons. I am she whose wedding is great And I have not taken a husband. I am the midwife and she who does not bear I am the solace of my labor pains... I am the silence that is incomprehensible... I am the utterance of my name... I am knowledge and ignorance... I am shameless; I am ashamed. I am strength, and I am fear... I am the one whom they call Life, And you have called death... I am godless, And I am one whose God is great... I am the one below, And they come up to me. I am the judgment and the acquittal. I, I am sinless, And the root of sin derives from me. I am lust in (outward) appearance, And interior self-control exists within me..., I am the name of the sound And the sound of the name... For I am the one who alone exists, And I have no one who will judge me.

I heart Harry Potter. Sad to see the series end, but mostly satisfied with the final journey.

So, if you've ever had an interest in working as a travel agent and live in Madison, the STA Travel in the Memorial Union has two positions opening up and now's your chance. They'll probably be hiring quickly, since both of us will be leaving the end of next week, so drop in and leave your resume. Full time only kiddies.

I saw this article this morning and shivered.
I'm generally trying to be optimistic about the new court makeup at first, in that I want them to be real justices, and not just puppets enforcing their own world view, but I realize I'm very likely to be disappointed. The reality is that people see the world based upon what they believe, and most of these people are conservative Christians. Not that anyone thinks partial birth/late term abortions are a good thing, but these are the sort of people who will overlook exceptions for the life of the mother. Which strikes me as astonishingly short-sighted, willingness to kill the mother, which would likely kill the child. And they're probably about to embark on a steady stripping of rights for everyone in the name of God and country, thereby corrupting both. But that's me and my logic and people have argued this ad nauseam.
But still. I'm worried about many many things continuing to spiral down in our country. But I'm in a state of paralyzed apathy induced by constant anger at what those in control of Washington and the horrible things they continue to perpetrate.

considering making the whole journal friends only and removing the old blogger archives from my website. going through a phase feeling like the self-indulgent nature of some of the blogging may be a little too revealing for my current comfort levels.
